Miami Dade County Public Schools' mission is to increase student achievement through the provision of systemic innovative curricula characterized by standards and research-based educational programs that deliver effective and differentiated instruction in partnership with parents, business, and our diverse community.
Language Arts/ Reading
The Language Arts Florida Standards (LAFS) are a new set of expectations designed to ensure all students achieve college and career readiness. Florida has adopted these standards so that their students can compete and succeed on a world stage.
Ensuring students can understand and apply mathematical concepts means more than just making it to the next grade level. The new standards lay a foundation for students to use mathematics skills in life. These standards were adopted in 2014 and will be in use in kindergarten through 12th grade during the 2014–2015 school year.
Miami Dade County Public Schools wants all schools to be at the forefront of STEM education creating a community of scientifically literate lifelong learners who are globally competitive. We have a commitment to improve science teaching and learning for all.
The goal of social studies instruction is to prepare students to be knowledgeable, informed, and active citizens in an increasingly diverse community and nation and interdependent world. Social Studies programs exist to promote civic competence and ensure that the values and ideals that have shaped our democratic republic continue to be instilled in our youth.
